Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Semera, the capital of the Afar region. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and drive toward Lake Afdera, located in the heart of the Danakil Depression. Relax by the salt lake in the evening and witness a beautiful desert sunset.
Early morning departure to explore Dallol, one of the lowest and hottest places on Earth. Discover the otherworldly landscapes filled with colorful sulfur springs, salt formations, and steaming fumaroles. Visit the Afar salt miners at Lake Asale and witness traditional salt cutting and camel caravans crossing the shimmering salt plains. In the afternoon, return to camp for dinner and rest.
After an early breakfast, drive toward Erta Ale Volcano, famous for its active lava lake. Depending on timing and accessibility, hike to the crater to see the glowing lava (if activity permits). Later, drive back to Semera for your return flight to Addis Ababa, concluding your unforgettable Danakil adventure.
